Harikesanallur Venkatraman – hails from a family of great stalwarts in Carnatic Music and Scholarly Persons in many fields. Since there are too many achievers I mention only two of them here.
Gayaka Sikhamani, Sangeetha Kalanidhi, Harikesanallur Dr. L. Muthiah Bhagavathar (1877 – 1945) was his father's paternal uncle. He was the first musician in India to be honoured with a doctorate. He was the Asthana Vidwan (court Musician) of the Earstwhile Mysore kingdom. He is the one and only musicologist to invent 25 new ragas in the 20th century.
Sangeetha Kalanidhi, Justice T.L. Venkatrama Iyer (1892 - 1971). A renowned judge of the Supreme Court Of India. An erudite scholar of Carnatic Music. Second president of Music Academy, Madras. He popularized the compositions of Sri Muthuswamy Dikshithar. Many musicians, including Bharath Ratna M.S. Subhalakshmi & Padma Vibhushan D.K.Pattamal learned Dikshithar songs from Justice T.L.V. He is Venkatraman's grand uncle.
